Decorating with Vintage Books

Hello again! It sure has been awhile! Life was so busy this Spring and Summer that I had to put aside blogging for awhile. My oldest son graduated from high school in June. Prepping for a graduation open house, work events and doing small projects around the house to get ready for the open house didn’t leave much time for anything else. Summer was in full swing by July and summer activities kept us busy during the week and on the weekends. August was just as busy with our small town Summer festival, my husband getting back into the swing of things at work (HS teacher), and our youngest starting kindergarten. September still brought more busyness and 95 degree temps here in Michigan. It is just now starting to feel like Fall around here which I love as it is my favorite time of year.

I always love adding a few fall touches, this year I pulled out a few more vintage books in shades of green and thought I would share a few reasons why I love using vintage books in decorating.

1.) Vintage books add height to a vignette…

Whenever I need to add a variety of heights to a shelf I will throw in a couple books. It adds a little more interest and balance to the whole area.

2.) Vintage Books add color…

Whenever I need to add a few more touches of color to my seasonal decor I look in my vintage book stash. I will pull out a few neutral colors as well as a few fun pops of color.

3.) Vintage Books add texture…

When I am on the hunt for vintage books I always look for books that have interesting details on the book cover or binding. These added details can add texture when using vintage books in your decorating.

When I see old books they give me an overall feeling of nostalgia and coziness. I’m sure this may be why they are one of my favorite decorating items to use each Fall.
